Pugs Of 2002 - 2003
PUGLSY (now known as DEWEY) - January 2004
Pugsly
was adopted to Drew & Maria on 1/10/04. Pugsly was an owner surrender
that needed to be the only male, well here he is the king of the land
with no other dogs:) He was instantly loved and will continue to be
spoiled and loved to no end. He is our first adoption of 2004 so it
makes him special:) I will update once I have a note from the owners.
Enjoy the pictures- they say it all:) Karen Powers, Founder GMPR
Missy -
January 2004

1/18/04 Missy came in tonight with 4 other
pugs from Illinois. She is met here by her new Dad and Mom Brian and
Judy Rafferty. They each received a new sweater compliments of Robyn
Steward "Barker Avenue" collection:) More updates to come from the
family. Congrats for being our 2nd 2004 placement!!
Missy is a sweet
wonderful little girl. She absolutely loves to cuddle and her favorite
spot is in my lap (although at times it gets a little crowded). She has
taken over half of my pillow at night. She does not like the cold
weather at all. We have little booties for her little feet which
surprisingly she has kept on. She and the other pugs are getting along
fine. She has become a wonderful addition to our family. We would like
to give a big THANK YOU to the Green Mountain Pug Rescue for giving us
the opportunity to give Missy the love and family that she so deserves.
She will live out her senior years knowing what love and being a pug is
all about. We would also like to THANK all those involved in getting
Missy (and her 4 traveling mates) from ILL. to VT. This is what a rescue
is all about.
Thank You Everyone! :o).
Also I'm sending along a picture of the puggy bunch. left to right
Ricky, Lucy, Benny, and Missy
Thanks
Brian & Judy Rafferty
Irene -
January 2004

Irene is now in the loving arms of the Greaves
family in Vermont. They live on a small farm and the kids will be
spoiling her with love all day long!! Here is her new family picture.
Baby and
Buddy - January 2004

Baby and Buddy are safe and sound with Julie
Workman and family in Vt. They are just the best pugs around and could
not have gone to a better home. Congrats and enjoy them!! Welcome to
GMPR!! Family pictures to come.
Zelda - January 2004

Zelda is now in the loving arms of her new
Mommy Jane Lolax. Zelda just melted into her arms like they were made
for each other. It does the heart good to see so much love!! Congrats
Jane and Zelda and welcome to GMPR:)
She is in my arms
right now. She has been sleeping a lot; I wonder if she knows she is
safe now and can relax. These are sound sleeps. She has been eating
right along. Slept on my bed, as she will do everynight, snuggled right
into my back.
Thank you,
Zelda's mommy
Jane
Hi Karen,
She is the greatest dog. She loves everybody and everything. I took her
to the vet the other day to have her sutures out and she nosed around
the entire office. THey were totally captivated by her presence. She
follows me everywhere.
She bounds right up the stairs but is afraid to come down. Each night
when I get home from work, she gives me about a minute to put my stuff
down then lets me know in no uncertain terms that I need to come right
up and get her and cuddle her.
Her foster mother made her a bed and I often find Chessie (my tiger cat)
and Zelda curled up together on the bed. Shim (her younger but bigger
brother) protects her as I had fully expected him to.
Thanks agian for you huge part is bringing this very special little dog
into my life.
Jane (Zelda's mommy)
Sylvia - January 2004

Sylvia went to live with her new Daddy Sandor
tonight. She and Otis his other pug will be fast friends. She has
really come out of her shell and even though she is still a bit timid,
he playful side is coming out and I know with lots of loving hands by
Sandor she will be fine there!!! He was so in love with her. He
cuddled her and I told him how she loves this contact.
Best wishes for Sandor and Sylvia - welcome to
GMPR:)

Tassy -
Adopted by Shara Seckington
Tassy will be arriving in
Vermont on Feb 7th and united finally with her loving family. More
updates and new pictures of the family to come as soon as she is
settled in:) WELCOME TO GMPR TASSY!

Hi there!
Just wanted to let you know that Cassie is doing great. She won't
venture down the stairs, but she stands at the top and barks for my
husband! She wants to come and sit ON him on the couch! He traveled
today, and she went looking for him. She, Barron and Buddy are all
tuckered out and sleeping on each of their beds. Dinner was just
delicious tonight, Nutros Lamb and Rice Lite formula with a touch of
soup to enhance the flavor:)
Pat

Cynthia Fields and family adopted a beautiful girl
named Abbie- I loved her dearly as a foster gal. She was perfect in
every way and will be a spoiled little girl!!!
Gracie:

Allison took Gracie back to NH and her new home today. It was a
lovely day for her and for us at GMPR who have seen her blossom
into an amazing little lady. We place her in your loving arms
Allison and wish you lots of loving days and nights ahead.
WELCOME TO GMPR!!!
Who
would have ever imagined that Princess Grace would have been
reincarnated as a Pug dog? The fact that I have to take
medication to cope with change, and Gracie just "deals with it"
via hugs and kisses, inspires me until no end. I don't think I
could ever love a child borne to me as much as I love Gracie.
|

She
is such an inspiration to me, an affirmation that my hearing loss
and visual capability do not come close to the trials this sweet
dog has gone through. To Karen, Mary, and Judy, I thank you from
the bottom of my heart for connecting me with my soul mate. I
feel as if I owe you my life. The way Gracie makes me feel is
like nothing I have ever experienced before. With every Pug who
is associated with your rescue, I have nothing but love and
support to everyone who participates in the Pugs' well-being.
The Green Mountain Pug Rescue has provided me with a
soulmate for life; I guarantee they will do the same for you.

MAC:
The big mac arrived in Vermont on Sunday April
4th to the loving awaiting arms of his new Mom Lisa Potwin. She
is in serious love already. Perfect match and he is getting
along with his new playmate Max at the house:)

Suzette:
Came to us an owner surrender, her owner passed
away and family could not keep her. She was transported by Karen to
her new Mommy Judy Caron in St. Johnsbury and it was love at first
sight!!! She will never be more loved.
Hi
Karen,
Baby and Buddy are doing wonderful! It's as though we have had them for
years. They fit into our family perfectly. We couldn't imagine life
without them.
Thanks again... Julie, Alan and
family

Ike met his Mommy Jacky and daughter for the
first time last night and it was love at first site all around.
Wonderful match. Lots of love in their house. Today Jacky took him to
work and was getting tons of attention there too:) What a face!!! Here
is the picture of them after they met for the first time.

Here is Ynez and her two new love pugs:) Bella
Mae and Ralph. These two pugs are the most laid back and lovable pugs
ever seen:) The GMPR folks in White River fell in love with these two
precious pugs!!
Congrats on them Ynez and Welcome to GMPR:)

Jessie's trip from Kansas never dampened her
spirits at all- she came out tail wagging and giving tons of kisses:)
Her new family has waited a LONG time for a little girl to love and call
their own. WORTH THE WAIT right Mary?? Welcome to the GMPR family:)
Jack came from Kansas
on 5.9.04 and into the arms of his new family and met his new sister
too:) I am sure after a couple of days Nila will be fine and best buds
with Jack. The picture says it all- total adoration. Congrats and
welcome to GMPR!!

5/16/04:

loving from the transporters that cared for her during her long trip

Hampshire will be spoiling her in no time!!!

5/9/04
Dusty came to us from Memphis Pug Rescue. He
is an adorable pug and will be soo loved by Pierre Cotton and his
family.
Just a quick email to let everyone know that
Dusty is doing great! He has made a wonderful addition to our family and
is very comfortable here. He sleeps with us in our bed and has learned
that he has to jump up himself. He was a little slow to start eating so
he did trick us into some wet food mixed with his dry. Now he can't eat
fast enough. He is very affectionate and soon we will send some
pictures...Thank you for taking care of him.

Gavin came back into GMPR and we were determined
to evaluate him fully. He was a fabulous bug:) and loved playing
with other dogs and people. He is such a luv bug!!!
Loves giving kisses etc..
His new family are the Bassett's-- Matt &
Lindsay from Danville Vermont. He will have a nice fenced in yard to
play fetch with them and love them forever. He has a playmate a cat
and I hope they become fast friends..
WELCOME TO GMPR and bring Gavin to the Social
for the alumni parade:)
Gavin is doing great! You'd think
he'd been our dog from the beginning. The Leroy situation is slowly
working out, he spends most of the day on the sun porch, watching
Gavin, and I think they're equally scared/curious of each other.
Gavin loves the backyard! We spend a couple hours a day playing
fetch (he will drop it for me), tiring him out, so he's completely
pooped at night. We've found that not only can he dance for a treat,
he sits, stays, shakes hands, and speaks! And he loves the car. When
around town with lots to see, he stands with his front paws on the
arm rest between us, watching out the windshield, but once on the
interstate or Rt. 2, he settles right down and naps.
I just want to thank you again for
everything. I think all around everyone is much happier. We'll,
maybe not Leroy, but we're working on it.
Matt
May 2004:

Mandy
was adopted by Linda Kingston in Shelburne Vt. Mandy will join their
other pug Yoda and have tons of fun playing with each other.
WELCOME TO GMPR LINDA and hope to see Mandy at
the Pug Events- Def at the social for the alumni adopted parade of
pugs.

I am pleased to announce that BRU is being
adopted by Lynn Esty of Vermont. She has been his foster mom and is
in total love with him and has made him a ramp to go down on and is
pampering his every whim...He is truly in pug heaven with her family.
They could not be more happy!! Pic to come soon of the family and Bru.
Welcome to the world of Pugs LYNN:)
Karen
MEET BRU:
He is an owner surrender from TN and a definite luv bug too. He
is being fostered in Vt while we evaluate his personality and
temperament. He is neutered, up to date on shots and heartworm
negative.
He is blind, having lost one eye in an accident
and the other has gone blind. He is a huge snorer:) snores
very loud. Loves children and being pampered. Foster
home is working on the housebreaking and says she built a ramp for him
and he barks when he needs to go outside. He is a senior
pug of 10 yrs old looking for a loving forever home.
More info will be posted as soon as we know it. If you want to
adopt him pls fill out an adoption application and say you want to
adopt Bru.
5/27 from his foster home:::

He is wonderful. Sleeps in his crate
during the day when he is tired. Sits by the door when he has to
go out. Barks if he can't find anyone to let him out.
Doesn't mind the other dogs or the cats, does well with the girls and
my husband. Is BLIND!! He cannot see out of the eye that
he has. Sees light and dark, like when on pavement - does see
light from open doors. Just walks around carefully until
he knows where things are, then he walks around the house, sniffing,
snorting. Likes to sit by me when I work on the computer or am
having coffee in the morning. Snores louder than my husband.
Will sleep in his crate all night long and then bark in the morning
when he has to get up and go pee. Loves to ride. Did very
well on the long, long trip home. Does not have any
food aggression, but it is so funny if you are cooking on the grill.
He comes running when he smells BBQ or a crinkly bag is open. A
great, little old man who just wants hugs and snuggles and a place to
keep his crate. 30 # and is on a diet..
We welcomed "Bojo" into our home two weeks ago.
He quickly adjusted to Opie (our Blue Tick coon hound) and our three
cats-Leona, Phinneus and Baby. He adores his new human Mom, Emily,
and won't let her out of his sight. He sounds pretty pitiful when she
has the nerve to go somewhere without him (somehow, high school
wouldn't let him come to finals the first week he arrived). He does
like the rest of his human family, too. He loves to snuggle and watch
TV in the evening and play fetch in the afternoon. Our two black cats
did a double take to figure out if Bojo was a cat like them and Bojo
was sure they were pugs like him! We find it comical that Bojo is out
like a light as soon as a car ride begins.
We are so appreciative of what everyone at GMPR
did for us! Bojo is a sweetie and a wonderful addition to our
family. Thanks for the awesome match for us!
Emily and Bojo

BENNY
Benny came to Vt from an owner surrender in NYC. Thru help from our
transport guru Sheri Lazar, he came to be a foster pug at our home. He
was 4 mos when we got him. I spent the time teaching him to be potty
trained and caring for his eye. He is blind in one eye and needed
surgery in the other to save it. When he was with us for about a month
we were trying to move him to another foster home as we were going on
vacation, and for
that long day he cried and howled all day long and would not eat, sleep,
drink - just cried. After a couple of calls from the foster home we went
to get him and he fell asleep immediately on my shoulder and never said
another peep. We got him home and he went to give Gizmo kisses and play
with
the gals. Gizmo was on his last little while here on earth and I
think Benny knew this too. He loved to give him kisses and be with him.
He went thru his surgery like a trooper. He has bonded with our family
so much so that he cries if left alone:) So we took
him to Michigan on our vacation- travels so well- sleeps on my lap the
whole trip. What a wonderful puppy. He is now 6 mos old and because he
has bonded so much with us we are going to adopt him and he will remain
with us forever. There is always a chance he can still go blind in the
remaining eye due to PK setting in early in his life from the
aggravation of the eyelid and dry eye. We don't care- he is a true love
and a great addition to our family. He starts puppy agility on 7/8/04.
We will see how he does:)
Karen, Darin, Nate, Tony and pugs Ebony, Molly and Benny
7/18/04 ---Meet

Welcome to GMPR Geoffrey and Susan and can't wait to see you at the PUG
SOCIAL in Stowe in Sept. Enjoy your newest love:)
Update from the family 7/19/04
Angus was great on the drive home, he curled up
in my lap and slept, with occasional bouts of puppy kisses. He's a real
little trooper with his long trip and still as sweet as he could be. We
arrived home and after everyone smelled everyone and he explored our
funny old farmhouse, he jumped up on our big bed and stretched out and
went to sleep. This morning he ate his breakfast and had a game of ball.
He's real easy to love. Thank you for all your hard work and all the
people involved in bring this little fellow to us.
Thank you again.
